As we come to the end of another year full of unpredictability and pause to reflect, I can see many positive changes and a real shift in some vital areas. While there is so much more that we need to achieve, globally, nationally and locally, to tackle the key sustainability issues of our time - people, governments and businesses are sitting up and taking notice. We must catalyse this shift to keep the momentum going in the right direction!

EPD Australasia and GECA are pleased to announce an agreement to support Australian businesses obtaining ISO compliant ecolabels and environmental product declarations (EPDs) for their products.

Firstly, I hope you are keeping safe and looking after yourself - with a special shout out to anyone currently in lockdown. We feel very fortunate that there's been so much to celebrate when it comes to sustainability despite the difficult circumstances around us!

GECA is proud to be a Supporting Partner of the premier business event for the waste, recycling and resource recovery sector, AWRE. This year, the event will return to its traditional face-to-face event format on 25-26 August 2021 at the ICC Sydney.

Our CEO, Michelle Thomas, explores the tumultuous yet hopeful year that was 2020. From embracing circular solutions and a determination to build back better, to an increase in collaboration and much more!

Since the start of 2020, Michelle Thomas has been our Acting CEO. We’re delighted to announce that the GECA Board has unanimously decided to appoint Michelle as our new permanent CEO.

In November, as a member of the B Corp Climate Collective, GECA joined leaders in business, technology, finance, environment and health to write a joint letter to all Members of Federal Parliament urging them to adopt the Climate Change Bill.
