Personal care products are an intimate part of our everyday routines; therefore, it is critically important to understand their impact on the environment and human health. That’s why GECA created a lifecycle ecolabel standard to define good environmental and social performance benchmarks for the following categories of personal care products:

• Liquid and solid soaps• Shaving creams and foams• Facial toners• Exfoliants• Moisturisers• Deodorants• Cosmetics• Nail polish and removers• Tanning lotions• Perfumes and cologne• Sunscreen• Insect Repellents• Oral hygiene products• Shampoos and conditioners• Hair treatments and styling products

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, each standard is subject to a transparent and comprehensive review process, including consultation with our technical advisory group (TAG). GECA now welcomes comments on the Personal Care Products (PCPv5.0-2022) standard from the public and industry professionals until 10 May 2022.A draft copy of the updated standard is available here. Please submit comments and feedback to standards@geca.org.au or +61 (2) 9699 2850.
