Two Good Co

Two Good Co is a business for good. Through the creation of beautiful, high quality products they support, empower and employ women with lived experience of homelessness, domestic violence and complex trauma.

In 2025, Two Good Co certified their handwashes under GECA's Personal Care Products standard. We spoke to Suzie Barnett, Business Growth & Partnerships at Two Good Co, about their sustainability challenges and opportunities, and why they chose to become GECA certified.

What are some of your organisation's key sustainability priorities?

At Two Good Co, we are leaders in delivering authentic social impact via our employment program for vulnerable women. We are also focused on our environmental footprint including reducing packaging waste through the use of recycled and recyclable materials, ensuring our products are made with biodegradable and ethically sourced ingredients, and prioritising local and sustainable procurement wherever possible to reduce transport emissions and modern slavery risk.

Why did you choose GECA certification?

Two Good Co pursued GECA certification to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. GECA certification provides independent, credible assurance that our products meet rigorous environmental, health, and social impact standards across their lifecycle. It supports our goal of creating products that are not only socially impactful, but also environmentally responsible — helping our message and our values to stand out in the market, meet the ESG expectations of our partners, and contribute to a more sustainable, circular economy.

How important is independent certification to you and your clients?

At Two Good Co, independent certification is important because it provides us with trusted, third-party validation that our products and practices meet high environmental and ethical standards - removing internal bias is such a powerful tool for authentic impact measurement. For our customers, certification helps us maintain transparency, build trust, and ensure accountability as we continue to grow — reinforcing our commitment to doing good for people and the planet.

What's changed for you due to going through the GECA certification process?

Going through the GECA certification process has motivated us to find more ways to improve our environmental footprint. It’s pushed us to innovate new products and review our operations more rigorously to identify more areas for improvement. It’s also deepened our confidence in communicating our environmental credentials to customers, knowing they’re backed by credible, independent verification.

What are the biggest sustainability challenges and opportunities within your industry right now?

One of the biggest sustainability challenges in our industry is that implementing and reporting meaningful environmental action requires significant resources, time, and funding — something that can be especially difficult for a social enterprise like Two Good Co.

While we’re deeply committed to reducing our impact through better packaging, ingredient transparency, and lower-emission logistics, addressing these areas at scale can divert resources away from our core mission: running social impact programs that support women affected by domestic violence and homelessness.

That said, we see a real opportunity to collaborate with like-minded partners, innovate within our means, and show that even social enterprises can lead with integrity and purpose.
