GECA certified licensee InfraBuild has released updated Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) demonstrating significant reductions in Global Warming Potential across many of its certified steel products. The results highlight how continuous improvement, transparent environmental data and independent lifecycle certification can work together to support better choices for the built environment.

Steel is a vital material not only for the built environment but also for vehicles, art, medicine and information technology. However, like all materials, steel can pose a significant environmental, health and social burden during its manufacture, use and disposal.

Judith Schinabeck represented GECA earlier this month at the Australian Climate Action Summit hosted by the Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia.

A new draft GECA standard for steel and steel products is now available for public comment. The standard seeks to define good environmental performance benchmarks for steel and steel products throughout their entire life cycle.
