GECA & Living Future Institute of Australia Unite to Drive Greater Transparency in Product Sustainability

GECA and Living Future Institute of Australia (LFIA) have formalised a new partnership agreement to make it simpler and more rewarding for organisations to pursue credible, transparent sustainability certifications.

Through this collaboration, GECA and LFIA will offer a 10% discount on first-year certification fees for organisations that already hold or apply for both GECA Ecolabel Certification and Declare Labelling. The agreement encourages greater participation in verified sustainability programs prioritising transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

"Our partnership with LFIA is about making credible and multi-faceted sustainability simpler and more accessible," said Josh Begbie, CEO of GECA. "Together, we’re empowering organisations to demonstrate leadership through certifications that go beyond surface-level claims to deliver measurable impact for people and the planet."

Both organisations are committed to promoting integrity in sustainability practices, particularly around products and materials. By working together, they aim to inspire more manufacturers, designers, and specifiers to pursue both certifications and demonstrate a holistic commitment to sustainability.

Laura Hamilton O'Hara, CEO of LFIA, said: "Declare and GECA are complementary in their approach — both are built on transparency, accountability, and a shared belief that healthier materials and responsible production are essential for a regenerative future. This partnership will help more organisations meet those standards."

GECA’s lifecycle ecolabel and LFIA's Declare label are both recognised under the Green Building Council of Australia's Green Star rating system, with their cumulative impact giving project teams and product manufacturers a clear pathway to achieving best practice sustainability outcomes with high Responsible Product Value scores.

The collaboration between GECA and Living Future Oceania reflects a shared vision of accelerating the shift toward safe, sustainable and circular supply chains within the built environment.

Organisations already certified under either program are encouraged to explore the benefits of dual certification and take advantage of the special discount offer.
