This standard seeks to define good environmental performance benchmarks for bulk insulation materials for use in the construction of buildings. This standard is applicable to the following categories of insulation products:
▪ resistive-type boards, blankets, batts
▪ loose-fill or spray on thermal insulation
▪ acoustic insulation
These products form a significant proportion of items manufactured for the thermal insulation of residential, commercial and government structures. This standard stipulates the environmental load of such products throughout the major aspects of their life cycle.
The BIM v2.0-2018 Building Insulation Materials standard has superseded GECA 33-2007 Thermal Building Insulation Materials.
